Have you ever dreamed of being high up in the treetops among the rare animals and plants that live there, hidden from the view of those looking up from the forest floor so far down below? Texas has just the place to give you the unique opportunity to see what lurks within the virtually untouched leaves - and maybe get over your fear of heights in the process.
Cypress Valley Canopy Tours in Spicewood (near Austin) is a zip lining and treetop bridge experience like no other. Don't worry, the zips are very short and designed for beginners, so you have nothing to worry about. What I want to focus on are the sky bridges - they're over 40 feet tall and they shake and rattle with every step you take (with your harness firmly attached to you and tour guides never leaving your sight, if that eases your anxiety at all). They look a lot scarier than they are, I promise. And once you get past the initial fear and really start to look around and take in all the beautiful scenery from a whole new perspective, it'll be one of the most unforgettable things you've ever done.
This is only the first of many thrilling journeys from treetop to treetop.
You might be scared at first...
I mean, you WILL be pretty high up above the ground.
So much so, in fact, that looking down might make you a bit nauseated.
So just keep looking ahead and trudging along.
If this little girl can do it with no fear in her eyes, then I have faith that you can, too.
There's really nothing to be afraid of - your sturdy harness will always be there to catch you.
And on the last leg of your journey, you get to look out from the treetops...
...at the beautiful Texas Hill Country views surrounding you. This makes all the heart-pounding a million times worth it.
If you're still feeling too shaky to drive home afterwards, you can even spend the night in one of their treehouses! How cool is that?
Doesn't this sound absolutely amazing? It's an experience of a lifetime, for sure. If you've ever been here, we'd love for you to share your photos on our Facebook page!
