Railroads are some of the best-preserved and most interesting aspects of history in our nation. They're responsible for economic development, the spread of language and culture, and so much more. Right here in Texas, we have the last remaining structure of the Texas & Pacific Railway, and it's a must-visit attraction.
Built in 1912, this depot is the last-surviving structure of the Texas & Pacific Railway shops complex. The district was originally comprised of 57 buildings spanning a whopping 66 acres.
Visually, very little has changed over the years. Although now served by Amtrak and taking passengers as far as Chicago and Los Angeles, the depot looks no different than it did over a century ago.
Today, it houses a museum dedicated to preserving railroad history. Train junkies and general history buffs will delight in learning all about the T&P, including telegraph and immigration offices located here during both World Wars.
Even little ones who can't quite comprehend most of the exhibits are sure to have a blast playing with model trains. How cute is this small-scale replica of the Marshall station?

It’s no secret that Mueller is one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the city. Formerly Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, it’s now a 700 acre mixed-income, mixed-use community. Head over to the food truck park near the hangar and check out The Original New Orleans Po-Boy and Gumbo Shop for some truly life changing Cajun food, or Conscious Cravings for vegan wraps, salads, and more! OK, I know!! But hear me out: The options for health and wellness in Mueller are kinda awesome. Firstly, there are 140 acres of parks and open space that includes a 5 mile hike-and-bike trail loop, 10 park areas, and a lake. There are various businesses dedicated to health and wellness like Swish Dental, Whole Family Chiropractors, and Massage Heights. Lastly, if you want to pamper yourself a little you have to stop by Great Nails or any of the countless retail stores in the neighborhood.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days.
