Cades Cove has long been known as one of the most beautiful places to visit in Tennessee. It provides lush views of the valley, and it is circled by craggy mountainpeaks and stretches of forest.
Most folks know the Cove for its popular hiking opportunities and campground, but it also offers an incredible scenic drive for those of us who would rather indulge in a beautiful view without the huffing and puffing that comes with a walk through the woods.
Cades Cove Loop itself is a one-way, one-lane paved road that takes roughly two to four hours to traverse depending on traffic.
The loop winds 11 miles through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and you'll have the chance to get out at multiple points to visit restored historic buildings and perhaps wander a few hiking trails while you're out and about.
Cades Cove was settled by Europeans between the years of 1818 and 1821, and it remains a stunning natural space and historical site. Please take note that the best spot to stop on your road trip is at the Vistors Center where you can take photos and use the restroom.
Make sure to check the hours for Cades Cove Loop, since there are certain vehicle restrictions during different seasons.
