Everyone loves a good comeback story -- there's nothing we love more than seeing the underdog win. The Blooming Arts Festival in Tennessee is a small-town triumph; a big rallying moment for those in the town of Linden during particularly hard times that's now has become one of the greatest springtime events in the state.
Back in 2009, the town of Linden, Tennessee, found itself at an all-time low. Unemployment rates were the highest out of any county in the U.S. and brought national attention to this little town. You can imagine the difficulty of receiving so much attention to a problem you have to live with every day.
They needed something to rally around; they needed something to pick them up and dust them of. What they really needed was a festival! So the mayor addressed the people with the promise that things would get better, and they did, but first, they had to pull off a plan that would gather the people and boost revenue for the local economy. He told the people that nothing lifts spirits more than talking with a good neighbor; this is a testament to the wonderful people who call Tennessee home. The people came out and joined arms to create the first-ever Blooming Arts Festival.
The festival has been going strong for over 15 years now and we are happy to announce that it is coming again this spring. The little town of Linden turns its streets from this…
…to this. Record-breaking crowds come and gather to join in on all the springtime fun.
There are more than 150 exhibitors who attend the event and offer all sorts of activities, entertainment, art, and goods. The focus is on artistic expression so you can expect to see chainsaw-made sculptures, canvas paintings, fine pottery, and much much more. There will also be plenty of live demonstrations of various artistic expressions, so keep an eye on the schedule.
This is a family-friendly event, and the kid's area is especially popular. Bring your littles for some face painting, special rides, and fun activities. It is always great to get outside in the spring and experience the warmth of the sun on your skin again, and if you were just looking for an excuse to get outdoors then this festival fits the bill quite nicely!
Like any good event in Tennessee, you can expect top-notch local musicians to bring the best live show they know how to do. It is something that is just in our blood here in the Volunteer State. So come on down to the festival for a boot-scootin’ good time!
