In South Dakota, we pride ourselves on making our own fun. We can assure you, living in the middle of nowhere is as full of adventure as it is peaceful! In winter, one thing we love to do is speed down a slope, and fortunately, there are plenty of snow-covered hills in South Dakota! In fact, our state was basically made for this nostalgic winter activity, and it can take SO many forms! Behind the back of an ATV, tubing, snow kayaking... the list goes on! Here are just a few of the best places to go sledding in South Dakota:
1. Spellerberg Park, Sioux Falls
A Sioux Falls favorite, Spellerberg Park is the perfect spot for family friendly sledding in the center of town.
2. Morgen Park, Yankton
This 5.2 acre park in Yankton has the perfect sledding hill! There isn't a more perfect place to form memories with your family this winter.
3. Baird Park Sledding Hill, Aberdeen

4. Larson Park, Brookings
Larson Park in Brookings is legendary for its snowfall, scenery, and, of course, its sledding hill! In season visitors will also find plenty of other activities as well, like disc golf.
5. Great Bear Recreation Park, Sioux Falls
The biggest sledding hill in Sioux Falls, this is another one where you don't have to walk yourself up the hill. Great Bear is the perfect place for sledding with friends.
6. Dakota Nature Park, Brookings
This 135-acre nature park in Brookings is open year-round for all sorts of activities, but the sledding hill is pretty fantastic too! Add this petite nature park to a larger national parks road trip.
