When you look around you do you really SEE what you're looking at? Most will only see the flow of traffic, the people; maybe they are looking for a specific place to eat, but few will appreciate the magnificence that surrounds them on a daily basis. South Carolina is full of architectural brilliance. We may not have many towering skyscrapers, but what we do have will blow you away!

1. The old State Bank of SC, Charleston, SC

It was completed in 1853. I don't know about you, but buildings like this always amaze me.

2. The State House, Columbia, SC

Built between 1851 and 1907 in the Greek Revival style.

3. Skyscraper, Downtown Greenville, SC

It's amazing how a different perspective can make a building look like two different structures.

4. Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Charleston

Built between 1890 and 1907, this church is famous for its neo-gothic architecture.

5. Gervais Street Bridge, Columbia

Built in 1927, this concrete arch bridge crosses the Congaree River.

6. The Arcade Mall, Columbia

It was built in 1911 and was the first enclosed mall in Columbia. It's still open today.

7. The tower at Main and Gervais, Columbia

Modern architecture. All those clean lines and look at the way it reflects the beauty of the day.

8. Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Columiba

Built in 1845, this is splendid example of the Gothic Revival style designed by Edward White.

9. The Citadel, Charleston

It was built in 1829. Some say that the building's designer based it on a painting that he loved. We will never know whether that is true or not, but we do know that it is striking!

10. Round beach house, Isle of Palms, SC

This is just amazing to see in person. It is reportedly made to be hurricane proof. There is a similar one in Florence County. Wouldn't it be amazing to have a tour?

11. Arthur Ravenel Bridge or Cooper River Bridge, Charleson

It was built in 2005 to replace two cantilever truss bridges that were not capable of withstanding the amount of traffic between Mt. Pleasant and Charleston. This bridge spans 13,200 feet and is visually stunning to behold.

12. Dock Street Theatre, Charleston

This beautifully ornate building has quite a history. This particular one was built in 1809 and began as a hotel, but in 1835 it was renovated to be a theatre. It's been renovated quite a few time since then, but holds its gorgeous charm.

13. St. Phillips Episcopal Church, Charleson

This is the organ loft inside the church, but I guarantee you that the rest of it is just as amazing.

14. Pier, Charleston, SC

The infrastructure of a pier is interesting. It takes just as much work to hold up a structure as it does to make it beautiful; in the work to make it sturdy they gave us something beautiful.
