1. Sundial: Entrada Court At Borica Ingleside Terrace
An authentic San Francisco secret. The sundial is near San Francisco State, adjacent to Junipero Serra, Ocean, and Holloway. One of the larger sundials you'll find certainly in the city and in this part of California. And, climbable if you dare, but please use caution!
2. Precita Park: 348 Precita Avenue
Precita Park is a good alternative to the crowded and more popular Dolores Park. Lush and beautiful park with a few nice coffee shops, and lots of space, it’s the perfect spot for relaxing and reading.
3. Wave Organ: 1 Yacht Rd. Marina Blvd, End of the jetty
When you're in the Marina area make sure to check out the wave organ. These gurgling pipes use surging water to make a bunch of really fascinating noises. You'll just have to see it to believe it.
4. The Yoda Fountain at Lucasfilm: The Presidio
You can't not love Yoda. Well Yoda seems to be overlooked, but he's still the most magical, part of Star Wars. This statue is in the Presidio.
5. Presidio Pet Cemetery: McDowell Avenue
Hidden in a forgotten corner of the old Presidio is a pet cemetery with eclectic, tiny grave markers. The fog often hangs over everything at the overlooked cemetery. Purported to be haunted, so walking among the remains of dogs, lizards and parakeets buried here may scare you.
6. Mt. Sutro Open Space Reserve: East Ridge Trail
Mt. Sutro Open Space Reserve is a true and fantastical hidden gem. Enter this trail and you'll be plunged into a secluded and lush eucalyptus grove. Mt. Sutro is quite foggy, so be prepared.
7. Cayuga Playground: 301 Naglee Avenue
A precious secret that has remained quiet only to locals. Cayuga Park is a whimsical experience filled with wooden creatures and totem poles.
8. Lands End Labyrinth: Land's End Trail
The labyrinth is part of the Coastal Trail, and is meant to promote contemplation and meditation. This stunning attraction is also in view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
9. Ina Coolbrith Park: Taylor & Vallejo Streets, Russian Hill
Near North Beach, the small yet scenic Ina Coolbrith Park in the heart of Russian Hill is full of incredible panoramic views of the 415. You will be forced to climb at least one steep hill to get to this 0.8-acre park, but it’s worth it!
10. Farallon Islands
A mesmerizing place that sees very little tourists, the Farallon Islands are famous for the great white sharks which lurk in the surrounding waters. The islands are often called "California's Galapagos."
11. Casting Pools: Mclaren Angler's Lodge and Fly Casting Pools, Golden Gate Park
Where else in San Francisco can you practice your fly fishing without the hassle of going far at all! This practical yet obscure spot is located in Golden Gate Park.
