1. The Exploratorium: Pier 15
Come to the Embarcadero and explore the wonders here. As well as being distinct and beautiful, the Exploratorium has more than 600 hands-on exhibits.
2. The Holiday Ice Rink at Embarcadero Center
This is signature San Francisco and it’s what makes TheIce Rink at Embarcadero Center the perfect place for ringing in 2017. The Ice Rink is open until January 8.
3. Bourbon and Branch: 501 Jones Street
It is a new year, so start the new year in style. Bourbon and Branch offers classic cocktails as well as great in-house creations. The outside of Bourbon and Branch is an unassuming door with a passcode, so prepare ahead of time.
4. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art: 151 3rd Street
Since reopening last year, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) has been popular for good reason. This is a world class museum with exciting architecture, style, decor, and art!
5. Castro Theater: 429 Castro Street
Catch a film at this historic theater or just come by and visit. The Castro Theater has the feel of a classic old movie theatre on the outside and an opera theatre on the inside. Wow!
6. Union Square
Believe it or not, Union Square is always abuzz with changes, department store sales, and winter activities. Woo!
7. Davies Symphony Hall: 201 Van Ness Avenue
One of many places in San Francisco to see a concert or event. Classical, ballet, and the list goes on, so start 2017 with some tunes.
8. Anchor Brewing Company: 1705 Mariposa Street
There are few places that you can call true San Francisco institutions. Anchor Brewing Company is one of them. Book a tour and drink some local brew.
9. The Fillmore: 1805 Geary Blvd.
Check out a show at this classic and vintage venue in Western Addition near Japantown. This is a historical spot for music fans in the city.
10. Ferry Building: Embarcadero
The Ferry Building has weekly farmers markets and tons of artisanal food options. Don't let the rain hold you back!
11. Musée Mécanique: Pier 45, Fisherman's Wharf
If you want a silly and affordable place to explore then check out Musée Mécanique. For first timers, this place is packed with zany games, arcade games, displays, and vintage entertainment.
12. Legion of Honor: Lincoln Park, 100 34th Avenue
If you want to stay inside then head to the Legion go Honor. This place feels like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris except without the travel costs.
