Rhode Island is a small state with tons of big attractions! While some might cost a little bit of your hard earned money, there are others that are surprisingly affordable and won't put much of a dent in your wallet. With so many free and inexpensive things to do, even a tight budget isn't a reason to stay home. Here are ten awesome things that you can do for under ten bucks.

1. Catch a Pawsox game.

McCoy Stadium is home to the PawSox. Traveling to Pawtucket to attend a baseball game is a truly Rhode Island thing to do, and with general admission at less than $10, almost anyone can immerse themselves in Little Rhodey culture. Tickets start at $9 for adults and $6 for children and seniors.

2. Visit the Planetarium.

The Museum of Natural History & Planetarium is one of the many attractions located at Roger William's Park in Providence. But unlike the zoo, it is easy on the budget. With admission at $3 per person, you can afford to bring the whole family. Children 4 and under can get into the museum for free but are not allowed in the planetarium.

3. Float in an illuminated swan boat.

Throughout the spring and summer you can find swan boats at Roger Williams Park, but during the fall they light them up! At $10 per adult this is an easy add-on to a romantic date night. Of course you can bring the kids along too if you wish for only $5 each.

4. Buy a treat at this indoor farmers market.

Farmers Markets don't end in Rhode Island just because snow is on the ground. The Indoor Wintertime Farmers Market at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket has been going strong for 10 years. Home to over 80 vendors and featuring live music and so many healthy and delicious treats, there is simply no reason to hibernate when you can enter for free and walk around. Any purchases you make supports local businesses!

5. Spend a night bowling.

A night of bowling doesn't have to break the bank! At Walnut Hill Bowl in Woonsocket you can rent a lane and shoes for less than $10 per person. They even have special nights that include food still within that price range. Amazing!

6. Hike this abandoned railbed.

If you prefer the outdoors, the price can be even better. For free you can visit Lime Rock Preserve, an absolutely stunning trail that leads you to an abandoned electric rail-bed. This area nurtures more rare species of plants than any other area in Little Rhody. Located in Lincoln, only 10 minutes from our state capital, it is surprisingly tranquil.

7. Get out to one of Rhode Island's many festivals.

Rhode Island is not lacking in summer celebrations. From PRONK (shown here) to PVDFest, on almost any weekend you can find a block party, festival or parade for only the price of what you choose to buy while you are there.

8. Attend an event at your local library.

On the site of the Cumberland Monastery is the Cumberland Public Library. Here you can attend a wide variety of events from concerts to classes to a Quidditch Match on Harry Potter Day! All of these things are free or low priced. While you are at it, check out a book for free too. Visit their website to view their events schedule.

9. Watch a movie at this discount theater.

9. Rumford is home to an unusually inexpensive movie theater. East Providence 10 Cinema features several of the not-so-newest movies around every day for only $3 per ticket! And just when you thought it couldn't get any cheaper, they reduce prices to $2 on Tuesdays and Thursday. That's worth waiting for.

10. Tour the state house.

History and architecture lovers do not need to spend a fortune on fancy tour guides. At the Rhode Island State House, if you book it in advance, you can get a tour for free. Featuring the fourth largest self-supporting marble dome in the world, that tour is worth every penny.
