Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater has been a favorite destination for Western Pennsylvanians and travelers from around the world since 1964.
Early in July of 2019, the former residence of the Kauffmann family celebrated its newly-minted status as a World Heritage Site.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee named Fallingwater to the prestigious list on July 7, 2019.
Seven other Frank Lloyd Wright designs - including Hollyhock House in California and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York - also became World Heritage Sites.
More than 1,000 sites are World Heritage Sites, but the only other Pennsylvania site to hold that title is Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
Wright's famous design, with its waterfall, draws countless visitors from around the state and the world each year. If you want to visit Fallingwater, you'll have to join a guided tour.
However, you can set off on a self-guided tour of the property outdoors, which includes the waterfall and rows of vibrant rhododendrons.
Fallingwater also features a cafe, where you can sit down, relax, and have a meal before or after your tour.
