Pizza. That simple word often gets our mouths watering for a slice from our favorite pizza joint. Pennsylvanians may disagree on which pizza joint serves the best pizza, but we can arguably all agree that pizza’s a PA favorite. For both a delicious pizza pie and a fascinating look at pizza culture, plan a visit to the world’s first pizza museum.
Pennsylvania is known for its fair share of firsts, but one of the most interesting is, arguably, Pizza Brain in Philadelphia, the world’s first pizza museum and restaurant, which opened in 2012.
The pizza joint and restaurant, in fact, has gained recognition by the Guinness Book of World Records for having “the world’s largest collection of pizza-related items.”
Inspired by the many small museums around the world, the Pizza Museum boasts an impressive collection of pizza-related music, books, and toys.
Explore the museum that also has collectibles and advertisements, all of which give unique insight into pizza culture and its rich history.
Keep an eye out if you’re eating in the pizza joint, too, because you’ll find pizza memorabilia hidden just about everywhere.
You can’t visit (well, you can, but who would want to?) Pizza Brain without ordering a piping hot slice of pizza or an entire pie. You’ve got quite a few delicious choices, too.
Perhaps the most popular pizza on the menu is the classic Jane, made with marinara, mozzarella, aged provolone, basil, and Grana Padano. Add the toppings you want, too.
Other pizzas include the Buffy Ernst (buffalo chicken with a twist), the Barbie Ernst (BBQ chicken), and the Ollie (red veggie pie). Check out the full pizza menu.
Find more information, including days and hours, on the official website of Pizza Brain. Or, go here for Facebook.
