Most Pittsburghers would likely agree that Pittsburgh boasts one of the world's most breathtaking city skylines. Very few things in nature rival the jaw dropping beauty of a sunset in Pittsburgh with the city glimmering against the backdrop of a pastel colored sky. Here are eight amazing places to watch the sun set in Pittsburgh.
1. Mount Washington
Travel up the side of the mountain aboard the Monongahela Incline as the sun prepares for slumber. Once atop the mountain, watch the sun set behind the Pittsburgh skyline from one of the observation decks.
2. Point State Park
There's a reason Point State Park hosts so many events. Besides its lush land, the state park also promises stunning views of the downtown skyline and Mount Washington, making it one of the best spots to watch the sun set in Pittsburgh.
3. Roberto Clemente Bridge
Drink in a jaw dropping sunset from the Roberto Clemente Bridge where you'll have panoramic views of downtown, the North Shore, and PNC Park. One of the best times to catch a sunset on the bridge is during a Pirates home game when the bridge is open only to pedestrian traffic.
4. PNC Park
Regardless of the time of the day you're at PNC Park, you'll be treated to absolutely amazing views of Pittsburgh. You're pretty much guaranteed a perfect view as the sun sets no matter where in the park you sit, although if you want to see downtown bathed in golden light, head toward the outfield river walk.
5. North Shore
Even if you're not a Buccos' fan or want to watch the sunset during the baseball off season, simply head to the North Shore.
6. West End Overlook
Enjoy a leisurely visit to West End Overlook Park where you'll discover unspoiled views of downtown Pittsburgh and the three rivers. Watch as the sun falls asleep behind the city then stick around to watch the skyline shimmer in the evening darkness.
7. Grandview Park
Pack a picnic and head to Grandview Park next summer for the city's traditional Cinema in the Park. Get there before the movie starts at dusk so you can watch the sunset from the overlook.
8. The Three Rivers
Whether you have your own boat, opt to rent a kayak, or decide to cruise along the three rivers on the Gateway Clipper Fleet, you'll quickly realize you have a front row seat for unbelievably beautiful sunsets.
