6. Pittsburgh Botanic Garden – 799 Pinkerton Run Road, Oakdale, PA 15071

Walk among the flowers at Destiny Hill (Lavender) Farm. You'll meet Luther, the farm's beloved donkey, cross a quaint footbridge, pass a field of sunflowers, and breathe in the sweet scent of lavender. Destiny Hill Farm hosts a Lavender Festival each summer.
9. Raccoon Creek State Park – 3000 PA-18, Hookstown, PA 15050
Spend a lazy summer day lounging on the beach at Raccoon Creek State Park. Only 30 miles from Pittsburgh, the state park boasts a charming 500 foot sand beach and a concession stand. Stop for a moment and embrace nature at Sahli Nature Park. Listen to the birds. Watch the ducks swim. Feel the golden sunshine. The fairy tale nature park offers plenty of trails to hike, natural benches, a waterfall, swings, and a butterfly nursery.
