Summer's quickly barreling toward us and that means only one thing: Finding ways to stay cool during the hottest and most humid days of the year. Don't barricade yourself in the house, blinds drawn and air conditioner on full blast. Head outdoors and stay cool while enjoying the summer sunshine as you slip and slide down this natural waterslide near Pittsburgh.
Pack your car with your favorite summer treats, a cozy beach towel, and your swimsuit and head to Ohiopyle State Park, home of Meadow Run Natural Waterslide.
Join countless other Pennsylvanians who flock to the sprawling state park each summer to hike, bike, walk behind waterfalls, camp, and, of course, cool off on the waterslide.
Slip into the cool water of the natural waterslide comprised of flat sheets of sandstone more than 300 million years old.
Zip and zoom down the waterslide, created after cracks appeared in the massive rocks and made them smooth.
A word of caution, however: Swim at your own risk. There are no lifeguards and some people have complained of getting bumps and bruises on the waterslide.
Travel to Ohiopyle State Park and, to reach the waterslide, pull in the parking lot off of State Route 381.
Follow the signs from the parking lot to the wooden stairs that will take you to the waterslide.
