The Lincoln Way abandoned neighborhood is located near southern Pittsburgh.
Looking at it now, it's hard to believe it was ever a brilliant or happening place. It's eerily silent, with only memories - and dilapidated buildings - to show for itself.
There were once 30 to 40 abandoned houses in this cul-de-sac neighborhood.
In recent years, many have collapsed or mysteriously burned down. Unfortunately, neighborhoods like the abandoned Lincoln Way neighborhood are often targets for arsonists, and this one isn't any different.
One local legend states that a beast of some sort began roaming the neighborhood, eating pets and scratching on the doors of residents.
It was terrifying, they said - something from the depths of hell.
Families began fleeing the neighborhood in Clairton, PA, until the elderly residents remained, all of whom have since died or been taken into care homes.
Of course, there's nothing to prove either way what happened here, but it sure is bizarre to happen upon homes with some belongings still inside. Often, we find ourselves with even more questions than we went in with.
Some claim that the "beast" may have been a large black bear, which are native to Pennsylvania. Others believe in the "Beast of Lincoln Way."
