Family outings make lifelong family memories. Deciding what to do on those family outings, however, can sometimes pose a challenge. After all, each member of the family probably has their own idea of how to best spend a day. Forgo the stress of deciding where to go next. Here are seven kid-friendly places in Pittsburgh the whole family will love.

1. National Aviary

Meet all kinds of new feathered friends - and maybe even an adorable sloth - when you bring the family to The National Aviary. The aviary's home to more than 500 birds, including bald eagles and penguins. You might even catch sight of the adorable sloth. Find out what the aviary's residents see when they fly by trying "Fly on Birdly," a virtual reality journey that allows you to fly.

2. Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh

Join the kiddos for a day of fun at The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. The museum boasts a full menu of family-friendly activities - from playing in the water at Waterplay to learning about woodwork, circuitry, and animation at MAKESHOP. Kids 10 and older might want to check out a new branch of the museum, MuseumLab. The lab holds workshops - on everything from woodworking to fashion design - for kids 10 and up and adults.

3. Carnegie Science Center

Time will melt away when you visit the Carnegie Science Center. Try rock climbing at Highmark Sportsworks; watch a movie at The Rangos Giant Cinema, or marvel at the universe at Buhl Planetarium. Don't forget to go outside and tour the USS Requin, a submarine that went to sea at the tail-end of World War II. If you get hungry and need a break, head down to the RiverView Cafe for a bite to eat and a drink.

4. Urban Air Trampoline Park - Cranberry

Join the kiddos on a day of fast-paced excitement at Urban Air Adventure Park in Cranberry Township. The huge adventure park boasts a full menu of attractions - trampolines, a battle beam, climbing walls, and a ninja warrior course. Play dodgeball; shoot hoops, or jump along the runway tumble track. Urban Air also features a play area just for kids seven and under.

5. Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Plan a visit to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium any time of the year. If you're not up for a lot of walking, hop on the tram. You can purchase an all-day tram pass to make hopping on and off easy. The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium also hosts wild encounter experiences. Choose a Wildlife Encounter with penguins, elephants, or sea lions, for example. For a little fast-paced excitement, fly across the zoo on the zipline.

6. Living Treasures Wild Animal Park – New Castle/Donegal

Meet and feed some of the residents that live at Living Treasures Wild Animal Park, in New Castle or in Donegal. (The wild animal park is open seasonally.) Meander through the animal park, where you'll meet an assortment of animals, including llamas, monkeys, and Asian tigers. Private encounters with sloths, for an additional fee, are also available.

7. Idlewild Park & SoakZone – Ligonier

Whether you're up for a day of swimming or climbing on rides or both, you'll have an epic summer day at Idlewild Park & SoakZone. Generations of Western Pennsylvanians have grown up with the family amusement park. Stay cool all summer long as you slip down slides, meander down the lazy river, or fight the waves in the wave pool at SoakZone. Then head over to the main park, which features rides, Jumpin' Jungle, and Story Book Forest.
