The holidays are a wonderful time of joy, reflection, and family fun. In Oregon, you'll find almost endless ways to celebrate. One of my favorites is to visit some of the wonderful holiday light displays. I love going to some of the classics like Peacock Lane, as well as exploring some that I've never seen.
If you're wondering where to find the best Christmas lights near me? We've got you covered. Here's where to go to experience the most wonderful Christmas light displays in Oregon.
1. Silverton Christmas Market
Each year, the Silverton Christmas Market takes residence at the Oregon Garden Resort. Enjoy the authentic German Christmas market, visits with Santa, and a fabulous light display with over one million lights! This year, the festivities kick off on November 21, 2024, and run until December 31, 2024. Level up your experience by booking the Silverton Christmas Market package and spending a few nights here!
2. Portland's Christmas Street
Peacock Lane, which has been a holiday tradition since 1929, is known as Portland's Christmas Street for good reason. This tiny four-block-long street between Southeast Stark and Southeast Belmont lights up with house after house decked out in holiday cheer! This event is free to the public, too. The lights come on December 15, 2024, and will run nightly through December 31, 2024. The first two nights (December 15 and 16) cars will not be allowed to drive through, which creates a wonderful, pedestrian-only light show. Follow Peacock Lane on Facebook to stay up to date.
3. Nature’s Coastal Holiday Festival of Lights
Nature’s Coastal Holiday Festival of Lights at Azalea Park in Brookings, Oregon, began in 1997 with just over 20,000 lights. The gorgeous annual display now boasts three million twinkling lights and has earned a top spot as one of the best Christmas lights displays in Oregon. The dates for the festival are November 29, 2024, through December 29, 2024.
4. Celebration of Lights
This beloved Colton, Oregon, light display is now only available for public viewing during an official event. However, you can enjoy the magic of the Celebration of Lights at Aspen Meadow during one of the season's special events and concerts. Proceeds benefit local community partners. This year (2024) will look a bit different, so you'll want to plan accordingly. Celebration of Lights will be open to the public on Saturday, December 14 and 21 at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
5. Winter Wonderland Portland
Head to the Portland International Raceway to see Winter Wonderland Portland. This magical light display decorates all around the track from November 29 until December 31, 2024. As one of the most popular things to do during Christmas in Portland, you can expect large crowds closer to Christmas Day. Winter Wonderland does do special, themed nights, like bike night and lights and leashes so you can share this special event with your fur baby. Visit the Winter Wonderland website to see specific dates.
6. The Grotto
The Grotto in Portland puts on the gorgeous Christmas Festival of Light every year, and 2024 promises to continue the tradition. In addition to the spectacular lights, enjoy choral concerts, puppet shows, caroling, and more. The lights kick off November 29 and carry on every evening until December 30, 2024. Purchase tickets in advance on the website.
