There's something that's just inherently charming about an old, covered bridge. Hand-built and often featuring intricate designs, covered bridges are quite exquisite works of architectural art. Covered bridges are a beautiful reminder of a bygone era, but are becoming increasingly harder to find. Between 1905-1925, there were an estimated 600 covered bridges built in Oregon. Today, only 50 of these historic structures remain. But my, are they beautiful. As is the case with the Yachats Covered Bridge, which we believe to be the most charming covered bridge in the PNW!
Located in Yachats, Oregon, you'll find the eponymous Covered Bridge along a scenic little backroad.
This picturesque drive along Yachats River Road is something everyone should do when in Lincoln County.
The drive leading up to the bridge is beautiful. It winds through a hidden forest that feels like something from a fairy tale.
The surrounding area is full of beautiful, old-growth trees and emerald-green foliage. On a foggy day, there's an enchanted quality to these woods.
The scenery around this covered bridge is truly breathtaking, and really makes visiting this bridge a magical experience.
The Yachats Covered Bridge itself is a vision in red.
It was built in 1938 with a Queenpost truss, one of the few of this type that remains in Oregon.
At 42 feet long, the bridge is one of the shortest covered bridges in Oregon.
The bridge, which was restored in 1989, is also one of only two covered bridges in Lincoln County open to vehicular traffic.
This winsome covered bridge is an unexpected surprise near the Oregon Coast. But here in Oregon, there are wondrous treasures (quite literally) around each turn.
Have you visited this covered bridge in Oregon before? If you haven't, you'll definitely want to put it on your list the next time you're in Yachats, which, by the way, is an absolute gem of a town on the Oregon Coast!
