There's something magical about watching dozens of balloons fill the sky, and you can see it every year at the annual Festival of Balloons in Tigard. At night, the festival gets even more amazing when the balloons dock on the ground for Night Glow. It's one of the best annual events in Oregon. Check it out:
Every June, the sky above Tigard fills with colorful hot air balloons. In 2024, the Festival of Balloons celebrates its 40th year and runs June 21-23. You won't want to miss this event!
Parking for the festival is at Tigard High School. Address: 9000 SW Durham Road, Tigard, OR, 97224
The Festival kicks off in the wee morning hours on the first day when the balloons launch.
Wake up early to see them, and bring your camera for some great photo opportunities. Balloons launch all three mornings during the festival.
If you think the balloons are beautiful during the daytime, just wait til you see them at night!
The Night Glow takes place on Friday and Saturday starting at dusk. The colorful balloons look like little jewels all aglow.
The evening parties include quite a bit of activities.
This includes live entertainment, craft vendors, exhibitor booths, and food vendors, all accompanied by the brilliant glow of several big, bright balloons.
The Festival of Balloons in Tigard draws as many as 15,000 people every year.
And like we said before, in between the balloon launches every morning, and Night Glow at dusk, there's plenty to keep you busy. And a visit here is a great family activity.
The Funtastic Carnival is fun for the whole family.
Enjoy all kinds of carnival rides that hearken back to an earlier place and time.
Kids attending have lots of opportunities to burn off some energy.
One place this can be done is at the Kids Zone Presented by Baskin Robins Tigard & Lake Oswego.
Food vendors are on hand to fuel you for your adventures, and you can quench your thirst at the Rogue Ales Beer Garden all three days of the festival.
Some of the best beers in Oregon are served here.
Activities galore are such a big part of this annual Oregon hot air balloon festival.
A Balloon Festival 5k Fun Run hosted by Tigard Parks & Rec, Main Stage Entertainment Presented by Krista Britton, Hillshire Realty Group, and pancake breakfasts are also part of the fun.
On Sunday, don't miss the Festival of Cars Presented by Landmark Ford Lincoln.
You'll see all kinds of classic cars, some that you'd expect to see in an Oregon museum, here!
Hot air balloon rides aren't available during this festival, but you can take a tethered ride free of charge!
They're offered every morning following the balloon launch.
Admission to the festival is just $15 for all three days for attendees over age 7 (6 and under are free).
A three-day weekend pass, which includes unlimited access to the Festival for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, is available for purchase online only; advance ticket purchase is required.
