Looking for an epic family outing? Head to Portland's historic Oaks Amusement Park, where littles from toddlers to teens will have a blast.
I grew up going to this fabulous amusement park and carried on the tradition with my kids, who I got on roller skates as early as they were walking. I love all the kiddie rides for toddlers and preschoolers and the big kid options like the Scrambler roller coaster and AtmosFear, too. I like the big slide and the merry-go-round and leave the adrenaline rush rides to the kids. There are rides available to suit just about anyone's preference (and tolerance) for speed, motion, and fear!
Oaks Amusement Park has been in business since 1905. When it first opened, guests arrived via a new streetcar and were delighted by rides, exotic animals, a bathhouse, and a dance hall.
The non-profit park's mission is "the preservation and perpetuation of the historic amusement park as an affordable, safe, and family-friendly recreation attraction open to the general public."
From the Disk'O to Adrenaline Peak, thrill-seeking tweens and teens (and adults) will be in heaven.
Little kids will love riding the kiddie attractions all on their own.
The park is located right on the Willamette River. If you wish, you can venture down to the beach to enjoy a stroll along the water.
In addition to rides, my family enjoys the shaded mini golf course.
I also love the roller rink.
It's good old-fashioned fun that both kids and adults enjoy.
The bumper cars are always a hit, too.
My older teens love the Go Karts.
There's a cute train ride and arcade games as well.
So, if you're hoping for a family adventure that everyone will love, head to Oaks Amusement Park!
