Located in Lane County, Oregon, the Cottage Grove Covered Bridge Tour makes for an unforgettable scenic drive. This 20-mile route starts in Cottage Grove and loops around the nearby Dorena Lake, passing six gorgeous covered bridges along the way. Most of these historic bridges are no longer open to cars, but they are open to pedestrians, so you can pull over and check them out on foot. This charming excursion is positively unique. Cottage Grove is called the Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon, and for good reason! Here are the six charming covered bridges in Oregon you'll encounter in Cottage Grove:
Chambers Railroad Bridge, built in 1925.
This wonderful railroad bridge no longer has tracks inside, but you can still walk across it to see the amazing structure up close. Chambers Railroad Bridge is a picture-perfect spot to explore -- especially during the fall when the leaves change.
Centennial Bridge, built in 1987.
The Word is definitely the newest of the Cottage Grove bridges, but it's unique in that it was actually constructed using materials left over from other covered bridges that had been demolished.
Currin Bridge, built in 1925.
Like some of the other bridges in the area, Currin Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's no longer accessible to vehicles, but you can cross it on foot. It is the only Lane County covered bridge with white portals and red sides, and it's really a beautiful little structure!
Dorena Bridge, built in 1949.
This incredible bridge located at the tip of Dorena Lake is over 100 feet tall, and it's absolutely breathtaking.
Stewart Covered Bridge, built in 1930.
This gorgeous bridge fits in perfectly to its woodsy surroundings. On a hot day, you can take a dip in the wonderful swimming hole just below the bridge.
Mosby Creek Bridge, built in 1920.
The beautiful Mosby Creek Bridge is the oldest covered bridge in the county, and it's still open to vehicles today.
Here's one option for the route. The journey should only take around 40 minutes of driving time.
There are multiple ways to see all six bridges, but here's a map of the scenic route we put together. You'll start at the Chambers Railroad bridge in Cottage Grove, and then you'll pass by the Centennial Bridge before you cut across the highway towards Currin Bridge. You can then make a large loop around the beautiful Dorena Lake, stopping at Dorena Bridge at the tip. Curve back around towards town and you'll reach Stewart Bridge and Mosby Creek Bridge.
