People all over the country know that Oregon is one of the best places for craft beers. With over 200 breweries to choose from in the Beaver State, you might already have a few favorites, but there's a little brewery hiding in a monastery that you'll definitely want to visit.
You'll find Benedictine Brewery in a beautiful, rural setting, just down the road from the Mount Angel Abbey.
The address pf the brewery is 400 Humpert Ln. NE, Mt Angel, OR 97362.
You'll love the peaceful, friendly atmosphere of the taproom, and the new space (finished in fall of 2017) is absolutely beautiful, with lots of raw wood and big windows.
This brewery is unlike any other you've ever visited. It's operated by the monks from the monastery, and there's a definite spiritual presence here.
Aside from the incredible hospitality you'll experience, the beer here is pretty amazing. The monks offer six different craft beers on tap, and three in bottles.
Visit the tap house for a tasting. Get a flight so you can experience all of it! From Black Habit, a Belgian dark strong ale, to Haustus, a Belgian Pale Ale, and everything in between, there's something for every beer-lover here.
Find your favorite, then sit back and enjoy the beautiful views of the grounds.
Take home some beer by the bottle or the case to enjoy at home, too.
The brewery's hours change seasonally, but during the winter, the taproom is open Wednesday through Sunday, and is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Visit Mount Angel Abbey's website to learn more about this beautiful place and the Benedictine Brewery. Then, follow the brewery's Facebook page to stay abreast of all the latest happenings.
