If you haven't explored Oklahoma much, then you still have some hidden gems to uncover. There's an enchanting spot in the northeastern corner of the state that will make you feel like you've stepped through a magical wardrobe. From gorgeous waterfalls to lush greenery to scenic forests, this park in Oklahoma may feel more like a scene from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe than the Sooner State. Go ahead, step into Natural Falls State Park - an otherworldly place that is filled with magnificent scenery.
Natural Falls State Park is located in the Ozark Highlands of Oklahoma and is home to one of the tallest waterfalls in the state.
Natural Falls stands at 77 ft. high and is easily accessible by the Dripping Springs Trail – a looped trail that is just under a mile round trip.
There are beautiful bridges that lead you to the path and ultimately to the waterfall.
Natural Falls State Park is a 120-acre park on the border of Oklahoma and Arkansas in Colcord, Oklahoma. The park is filled with stunning views but the centerpiece is the large waterfall.
Natural Falls is considered the second tallest in the state and cascades over rock formations, creating a stunning atmosphere at the end of a V-shaped valley.
Another trail in the park, Bear Trail, is also 1/2 mile each way, and leads visitors from the campground site to the falls. It is rated a moderate to strenuous trail, due to a few steep and rocky inclines.
No matter what trail you take, the trek will be worth it. The breathtaking scenery is otherworldly and is unlike anything else you've seen in Oklahoma.
Stop along the path and enjoy cascading waterfalls, unique plants and wildlife. You may even recognize the scenery, as it was the filming location in 1974 for "Where The Red Fern Grows."
