Oklahoma is full of beautiful cemeteries that are resting places for the deceased; however, we do have several that are haunted and full of paranormal activity. 1. Fort Reno Cemetery (El Reno)
Fort Reno is a former military camp that began in 1874. With such a long and diverse history of wars, prisoners and soldiers, Fort Reno has had a good amount of murders, suicides and deaths that have left many restless souls still lurking around town. Phantom sounds from soldiers have been heard in the cemetery on site, and men in soldier uniforms have been spotted too. It's no mystery as to why Fort Reno is thought to be one of the most haunted places in Oklahoma.
2. Enid Cemetery (Enid)
Enid Cemetery is the site of the Haunted Tales tour - a haunted tour that takes you through the cemetery, telling stories of the Chisholm Trails. But it's not all fun and games at this cemetery. Spirits of these buried souls are said to still roam the land and scare visitors after dark. 3. Jesse Creek Cemetery (Bartlesville)
Many paranormal happenings have been reported at Jesse Creek Cemetery in south Bartlesville. Locals say that cameras do not work while in the cemetery, but will work fine once you get out of it. Also, spooky noises like giggles and cries have been heard.
4. Blanchard Cemetery (Blanchard)
This cemetery in Blanchard is said to be haunted by a young man. If you go to an area in the 2nd section you will find a tall figure of a man in black with his hands in his pants. There is no logical explanation for this shadow and it can be seen waving. Also, bright lights have been seen and then go dim. Other weird paranormal activities have been reported by many visitors.
5. Sacred Heart Mission & Cemetery (Konawa)
In 1901 a convent and school for girls was burned down in a fire. It was later rebuilt but the grounds were said to be haunted after the fire. Many monks, priests and animals were killed. Since then, there have been hauntings from the dead with many strange noises and sightings reported. It's not just the cemeteries in Oklahoma that are haunted... there are plenty of other creepy places in OK, too.
6. Timber Ridge Cemetery (Catoosa)
Years ago a young boy was riding his bike along the road and was hit and killed. His body was buried at Timber Ridge and now his spirit roams the property. Visitors have witnessed his spirit with his bike alongside the road. Others have felt they hit something, then get out of their car and find nothing. Some have even reported getting nosebleeds, for no apparent reason. People fear entering Timber Ridge at night because of the paranormal activity. This is one of those creepy Oklahoma hauntings we love and hate at the same time. Yikes.
7. Violet Springs Cemetery (Konawa)
This cemetery is haunted by the spirit of a young lady named Katherine Cross. It is reported that Cross died from a pack of "human wolves." We're pretty sure we really, really don't even WANT to know what that's supposed to mean. Her spirit roams the grave at night and makes growling sounds that can be heard at night.
8. Imo Cemetery (Drummond)
There is said to be a glowing headstone in the cemetery that stops glowing when you get up close to it. There is also reports of claw marks on a headstone and voices coming from an old Indian burial ground at the rear of the cemetery. Thanks, we hate it.
9. Hillside Cemetery-Witch's Grave (Skiatook)
A witch was buried at Hillside Cemetery in the early 1900's and ever since then, the paranormal stories haven't stopped. Many disturbing things have happened at this site and around it. A young boy wrecked his car and died on a bridge near the cemetery and is said to walk the streets around the cemetery. People also say demonic things happen to anyone who messes with the Witch's Grave. Interestingly, you can follow Hillside Cemetery on Facebook.
10. Tucker Cemetery (Duncan)
Locals fear this cemetery due to sightings of the graves changing their surroundings. The graves will be empty, then the next moment filled with grass. Others have reported getting their legs grabbed and tombstones falling over for no apparent reason. Nah, we're good.
