Welcome to Blackwell - home of the Top of Oklahoma Barn Quilt Trail. The trail takes you around the town of Blackwell and surrounding areas in Kay County to view over 60 barn quilts.
The Trail was started by the Blackwell Tourism and Development Board. The plan started in 2018 and really took off early this year.
The quilts are between four and eight feet tall. All 50 states are represented on one of the 62 quilts.
The barn quilts are attached to buildings or free standing - and make a great photo op.
You can pick up a map of the route at the Blackwell Tourism Department or find it online.
All the quilts are hand painted before being installed. Here, Wisconsin is displaying bright blue, green, and yellow colors.
Oklahoma has five official quilt patterns - all painted by volunteers.
Here's a closer look at one of the beautiful creations before being installed. Just look at all the detail - it looks just like a quilt!
Hawaii was painted by Lea Ann Bechtel and Terrie Grell and is located at Morgan Field on South Main. Make sure to pick up a map in town to get the location of each quilt, before heading out to explore.
