St. Vincent Asylum in Oklahoma City has a long and dark history that is still lingering in the heartland to this very day. The old insane abandoned asylum in Oklahoma has been sitting vacant on NE 23rd Street for decades and has become a prime destination for ghost hunters and thrill seekers. The location is off-limits for visitors nowadays, but we found some rare St. Vincent Asylum photos of this creepy place courtesy of our good friends at Abandoned Oklahoma. St. Vincent began as a mental hospital in 1945, expanding rapidly over the next several years, while only treating male patients.

St. Vincent Mental Asylum was operated by the Brothers of Mercy - a religious order providing care for the mentally ill. Starting in the 1960s, murders began to surface out of the asylum. The first known tragedy began when a nurse inexplicably suffocated two patients. Unfortunately, the tragedies didn’t end there.

The asylum was then run by a priest named Frank Dolan who turned it into a drug rehab center.

Rev. Dolan also had an interesting past, as he was arrested for soliciting prostitution in 1984. Things again went horribly wrong when Father Dolan was killed on the property by the patients he was trying to help. The facility only lasted until the 1980s when it was shut down. The property is now believed to be haunted by tortured souls of the past.

The nursing order of Catholic brothers moved to the present location and built the ‘old’ section of the building in 1953.

The hallways now have graffiti all over them and there is no flooring left but the original concrete slab.

The addition added several semi-private rooms with connecting baths, a lounge on each floor, nurses stations and a chapel.

Old decor is laying around, like this old broken mirror and candle wax.

These items were probably used in the common living spaces.

Many creepy things can be found lying on the floors, like this old doll that appears to be covered in wax from those candles...or let's hope it's candle wax and not blood.

...it's definitely not blood. Blood doesn't look like that when it's dry. We watch too much true crime and now we know this. Send help.

Many rooms have a cold and eerie feeling and look like they were used for solitary confinement.

You wouldn't want to walk into this room in the dark. Honestly, we don't think we want to walk into ANY of these rooms in the dark... or during the day. Or ever, for that matter.

The old couches and chairs are torn up and tossed all across the rooms.

It's a veritable mess that'll likely never be properly cleaned up. Some call it an eyesore, but we find it intriguing...

Scrubs are still laying on the floor that appear to be "bloodstained".

Of course, no abandoned asylum in OK would be complete without its ghosts. Many reports have surfaced about creepy things happening in the building.

Sounds of creaking, banging doors and even recordings of ghostly noises have been documented.

The original alarm system is still hanging on the wall with panic buttons.

These staggering photos give us a deeper look at the danger and filth still sitting inside this abandoned asylum.

Paranormal investigators firmly believe the asylum is in the grip of a demonic entity... one that drove the patients and staff to madness.

Do not enter the asylum. It is located on private property and the police will issue tickets to trespassers.
