When you think of Cincinnati and things to do around town, you probably first think of catching a Reds game, walking along the river, or maybe riding a few roller coasters at Kings Island. In addition to these, there are countless ways to spend your time in the Queen City. There are also a few lesser known and more unique activities, that you'll definitely want to add to to your Cincy bucket list. You may have never thought of doing these 8 unique activities in and around Cincinnati, but now is the time to check them out!
1. Tour underground Cincinnati.
American Legacy Tours in Cincinnati hosts some of the most unique tours of our city, and their Queen City Underground Tour is a must! Descend below the streets of OTR to see where some of our city's first residents were buried and get a unique look at our historic brewing industry.
2. Spend the night at the zoo.
Of course a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo is not unusual, as it's one of the most popular attractions in our city, but did you know that you can spend the night with the animals? Adults and children ages 5 and up can participate in Family Overnights, which are held on various dates throughout the year. Sleep next to the manatees (pictured above), in a tent adjacent to the giraffes, or other amazing spots throughout the grounds. Be sure to check out the zoo's website for all of the info!
3. Tour the city via Pedal Wagon.
Come prepared to work a bit on this unique tour of Cincinnati. Pedal Wagon Cincy offers a variety of tours and options for you, along with friends and family, to rent your very own wagon for a special event. Experience our city like never before aboard this epic bike ride.
4. Hike around a cemetery.
It may seem a little unusual to head to a cemetery for some exercise, but when it's Spring Grove Cemetery, you'll quickly see why it's recommended. This historic property is also one of the most beautiful and a lovely place to hike around and relax.
5. Spend the night in a treehouse.
This activity takes a bit of a drive to Red River Gorge; however, these master treehouse builders - The Canopy Crew - call Cincinnati home, and this unique adventure is so worth the drive. Visit their website for reservation information and also be sure to look for their new show "Canopy Kings" on Animal Planet!
6. Visit a cat museum.
Cincinnati's "Lucky Cat Museum" on Essex Place is a space literally filled with cat figurines. Over 1,000 of Japan's famous Beckoning Lucky Cats are on display, making it one of the most unique museums in our city.
7. Have a glass of wine at Ohio's oldest winery.
Did you know that the land that now houses Kenwood Towne Centre was once used to grow grapes for wine? Meier's Wine Cellars has been making wine since 1890 and continues the tradition today in Silverton. It's a historic and unique spot to visit in Cincinnati.
8. Hang out with wolves.
This hidden gem in Brookville definitely tops the list as most unique. At Wolf Creek Habitat, you can choose to view these beautiful animals from a viewing deck or you can actually get up close and interact with them. It's at your own risk and you must be 60 inches tall, but it sure is quite the experience to get so close to these beautiful animals.
