Collision Bend Brewing Company is a super fun place to spend an evening. This brewery and restaurant, which opens every day at 11:30 a.m., is located in a fascinating edifice. This means the structure once sold items for use on boats, but it now serves as one of the best destinations for watching them.
Collision Bend takes its name from, well, Collision Bend. This U-shaped curve in the winding Cuyahoga River is a bit of a challenge to navigate, but expert captains have been guiding massive boats through it since the rise of industry in Cleveland. Located on the Columbus Road peninsula and nestled against the Towpath Trail, this surprising spot has a little bit of everything. The park is located on a curve known as Irishtown Bend. This West Bank area once hosted an impressive neighborhood of Irish immigrants, though most of the historic structures were removed by 1950. Today, it’s the site of urban archaeological excavations, and a lot of history is hidden literally right under your feet. Truth be told, nobody is quite sure! What we do know for sure is that generations of Clevelanders have come here for libations.
Early on, sailors from the Flats would walk on over to relax and refresh. Today, barhoppers from the Flats do the same. Their vast selection of beers is as storied as its history, and the vibe is… well, vintage. To be honest, the vibe of the building has changed very little over the years, and locals love that. It’s still a great place to play darts, go mini-bowling, or sit at the bar and soak up some history. It is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and it’s always full of energy. If you enjoy your visit, you might even consider grabbing a hoodie or shirt to show your support for Cleveland’s oldest continually-operating bar.

Thanks to the Cleveland Metroparks, the eLCee2 Water Taxi provides a super cool view of the Flats at no charge. It has docks on both the East and West Banks, so it’s easy to access if you’re near the northern end of the Flats. During the warmer months, it’s an awesome way to get around!
As things cool down in September, the focus shifts from taxi service to tours. While not free, these $15 tours won’t break the bank. The tours focus on history or nature, and you can even rent the water taxi for a private session. While the Flats aren’t necessarily renowned for their nature, there’s a lot more to see than you might think! Next time you find yourself in the area, treat yourself to a river trip.

The talented performers know how to excite and entertain, and they perform familiar songs at your request. You won’t believe the talent each performer displays… it’s almost amazing that they’re able to keep the music playing non-stop.
In addition to the live performances, the venue also offers a menu of small plates and appetizers, which are perfect for sharing. The fun takes place every Thursday through Saturday, with the fun lasting from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. each night. The concert club is only open to patrons 21 and older, and reservations are recommended due to the popularity of the club. Cover fees vary depending on the day of the week and volume of business, but entry costs no more than $8. That’s right… you can attend an hours-long concert for just $8. Where else can you get such a memorable experience?!
