It's a new year, Cincinnati! The beginning of a new calendar gives us a blank slate of opportunities to plan out the upcoming months, and that's always an exciting feeling in January. Many people make plans or set goals for the new year, and when you do that for 2019, don't forget about the things you want to do and try around the city. If you need help getting that list started, check out our picks for nine things you must do in Cincinnati in 2019.
1. Go ice skating.
Kick off 2019 with some outdoor fun at the largest outdoor rink in our area. This year, Newport on the Levee has a massive new rink that's open through President's Day in February, and you can take advantage of the other fun activities on the Levee while you're there. Learn more about this new ice skating rink in our recent article here.
2. Ride the SkyStar Wheel.
A few weeks ago, we suggested catching a ride on the SkyStar Wheel before the year ended, as it was slated to leave at the beginning of December. If you didn't get a chance, you're in luck, because it's now sticking around until June 16th! And who knows... maybe even longer than that! Find out what else we had on our must-do list here.
3. Visit a museum.
We've recommended many local museums over the years, as Cincinnati is filled with them. Make 2019 the year that you pick at least one to check out! You may want to start with the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, shown above, which is free, massive, and just a short drive away. Learn more about this incredible museum in our previous article here.
4. Plan a lobster bake.
This may sound like an odd thing to do in a landlocked city like Cincinnati, but not when you get your meal from Lobsta Bakes of Maine in Newtown. This local gem has incredibly fresh seafood year-round and can help you serve up a New England feast, right here in Cincinnati. Start planning with our previous article here.
5. Stroll the Cincinnati Riverwalk.
Of all of the trails and walkways throughout Cincinnati, the historic Riverwalk is the one everyone must do at some point. The views of our city are unmatched - from both sides of the river - and it's the perfect activity for a nice day in 2019. Find out more about the Riverwalk in our previous article here.
6. Take a train ride.
Our area offers a wide variety of train rides, from short, themed trips to longer, overnight options. Take the family or have a romantic dinner aboard a nostalgic train this year. Learn more about the options for riding the rails around Cincinnati in our previous article here.
7. Shop at a local farm.
Especially in the warmer months, there's no better way to spend a weekend afternoon than strolling a local farmer's market or stand. It's a great way to support our neighbors while also treating ourselves to plenty of fresh produce and homemade treats. Read more about one of our favorite roadside stands in a previous article here.
