There's a festival for just about everything in Cincinnati, and they’re one of our favorite things to celebrate food. From a local favorite goetta to Italian to German food, and more, we'll chow down with thousands of our closest friends any day. While events like Taste of Cincinnati and Oktoberfest are well-known, there are some gatherings that aren't - and that means we are missing out on some great food. Coming up in August, the Great Inland Seafood Festival is happening just across the river in Newport and it offers all of your fresh favorites for a great price. This little-known seafood festival near Cincinnati will transport you to the coast, and it's just one more reason to celebrate food in the Queen City.
Cincinnati offers many festivals, especially during the summer months, but one of the most delicious is the Great Inland Seafood Festival in Newport.
This festival will take place right along the river near Newport on the Levee on August 8-11, 2019. While it may not be within the Cincinnati city limits, it's just across the river and worth the very short drive (or even walk!).
The festival is all about seafood, so if you're a fan of coastal fare, mark your calendar now.
They have a wide variety of offerings and all for a great deal, especially compared to restaurant prices. We may not be anywhere near Maine, but you can have a taste of it at the festival with a whole lobster.
Crawfish will also be available, so you can pretend you're on vacation in the south.
You did cross the river, so you can technically say you've gone on a trip south for some fresh seafood - and there's plenty of it at the Great Inland Seafood Festival.
The options don't stop there; dozens of tents and stands are set up with every type of seafood imaginable.
You can try rare finds like shark tacos and alligator, or stick with classics like crab cakes and jambalaya. There are both snack options and whole meals, and don't forget about a slice of key lime pie for dessert!
Many of the dishes are served up in a traditional style, as if you were at a local crab boil.
Grab a Crab Boil Bucket, complete with crab, shellfish, red potatoes, and corn. If you are a fan of crab, seek out some crab mac & cheese as well!
The food is the highlight of the festival, but the atmosphere is just as appealing.
Listen to live music, walk around, and take in the scenery along the river. There will also be craft vendors for you to browse.
Even if your kids don't like seafood, bring them along for some fun.
There is an area just for them with inflatables, and you may be able to convert them with a lobster roll or fish sandwich.
The festival kicks off the evening of August 8th, returns on the evening of the 9th, and then runs all day on the 10th and 11th.
That means you should mark your calendar now, as there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy this mouthwatering seafood festival that takes place just across the river from Cincinnati.
