There's no summertime destination quite like Ashland, Ohio. Luckily for Clevelanders, it sits just an hour from our hometown!
As the county seat of Ashland County, you may be surprised to learn that this lovely little city is only home to around 20,000 residents. It claims to be "The World Headquarters of Nice People," a title visitors don't dare to argue with.
For nearly three decades, this quaint community has kicked off the summer season with sky-high fun.
From June 27-29, 2019, Ashland's sky will be filled with hot air balloons for a cherished small-town festival like no other. The event includes fun that the whole family can appreciate, and you'll enjoy a picturesque hot air balloon-infused backdrop to the festivities.
Entertainment, music, performances, and fair food galore abound at this festival, filling attendees up with good vibes.
Like any good street fair, the Ashland Balloonfest includes all the amenities needed for an unforgettable and indulgent time. The festivities take place at Freer Field and begin around 4 p.m. on Thursday. The final event of the day will begin around 9:15 p.m. on each and every evening of the celebration.
The most breathtaking experience of the entire celebration takes place after night falls.
During the Balloon Glow Encounter, you'll arrive roughly one hour before the balloons light up the night sky - around 8:15 p.m. However, as the night grows closer to 9:15 p.m., you will be astounded by the otherworldly beauty that unfolds.
At the Balloon Glow, you'll enjoy stunning views of illuminated balloons glowing against the dusk-kissed landscape.
The sunset is projected to take place around 8:31 p.m. on this weekend, so you'll be treated to the sweet sounds of crickets and frogs as the event begins.
This glow is particularly special, as it includes a light show choreographed to music.
This interactive display is fun for all ages and is a particularly mesmerizing experience. There's something magical about this old-fashioned festivity, and there's nothing quite like sharing it with your children or grandchildren.
