Cincinnati has an intriguing history and many claim that spirits from our past continue to call our city home, long after they've left this world. Ghost stories are as common around the Queen City has arguments about who has the best chili, and many of them are tied to our historic buildings. One of the most iconic and recognizable — Music Hall — is arguably the most beautiful building in Cincinnati, and possibly the most haunted. If you've ever been curious about this fascinating structure and the stories behind it, there's a haunted ghost tour coming up that may be a bit frightening, but also may answer a few lingering questions.
Music Hall is a stunning building in Cincinnati that was completed in 1878. Built on the same land as Ohio's first insane asylum, and also adjacent to cemetery and orphanage property, it's easy to see why this landmark is considered haunted.
Recently restored and renovated, Music Hall stands grandly next to Washington Park, another location in the city that is also the source of ghost stories. The building is an incredible concert hall and is home to several outstanding performance arts groups in the city.
While it's a popular destination for the arts, many also visit to see if the countless ghost stories are true. If this describes you, then you'll want to sign up for the upcoming Guided Ghost Tour of Music Hall, led by The Cincinnati Research & Paranormal Studies team.
The next two tours take place on the evening of August 24th and last for about two hours. You'll get to tour the common areas of Music Hall, as well as places you've surely never been before.
You will visit the foyer, auditorium, service elevator, ballroom, Corbett Tower, stage, backstage, and basement. Many of these places are rumored to be home to ghosts of Music Hall's past, and you'll likely see fellow guests using their own ghost hunting equipment, which is allowed. Personal photos are also allowed, but not video.
Despite its renovation, there are still plenty of spaces throughout this historic building that are filled with a creepy factor. Ghost stories from inside Music Hall have been told for decades, and some photographers even think they've captured a few on film.
The photo below shows Music Hall in 1937, but the same haunting scene could really be replicated today. It's remarkable how this beautiful building with a sordid past has remained a beloved landmark, and at the same time essentially our city's most famous haunted house.
The guided ghost tours of Music Hall will take place soon, but be on the lookout for even more opportunities to go behind the scenes of this iconic Cincinnati destination. Visit for the history, the chill of the ghost stories, and of course, to see if any of the spirits of Music Hall decide to pay you a visit.
A ghost tour of Music Hall may just be one of the creepiest, yet most fascinating excursions you can do in Cincinnati. Would you go on this tour? Or maybe you've already been? We'd love to hear about it in the comments!
