Chief Looking's Village and Pioneer Park are located right at one of the prettiest views of Bismarck, North Dakota. When this is the sight you see when sitting on a park bench, you know you're someplace great.
The park has a gorgeous garden, trails, picnic shelters, a playground, and everything else you'd expect from an award-winning park.
The views of the Missouri River and the city are second to none. You can see multiple bridges, as well.
Along with the park's scenic spot and beauty, this is also the site of a historically significant spot: Chief Looking's Village.
This area was originally the site of a Mandan earth lodge village. Important archeological digs were carried out here to learn and preserve the history of the tribe and the area.
This park is gorgeous year-round, whether you visit when it's lush and green in the summer or starting to change colors in the fall.
The fall is especially pretty, with the forests surrounding the river changing into an incredible array of color. Whether you take the trails, just enjoy the view, or explore the history of the park - it's definitely worth the visit.
You can learn more about Chief Looking's Village and Pioneer Park by visiting this website. It is a public and free-to-visit park.
