North Carolinians know the lake with the clearest, most pristine water is found near Elizabethtown (an hour from the coast). White Lake is a continuously spring-fed body of water with a natural white sand bottom. (You can read more about the lake here.) For decades, both locals and visitors have enjoyed gathering at White Lake -- so much so, that it's now a hopping little resort. As such, many attractions are located near White Lake, including an old-school water park that the entire family will love. Are you ready to make a splash? Let's take a look at White Lake Water Park in North Carolina:
Prepare for a full day of fun in the sun and water at White Lake Water Park.
This water park is just the right size that you're not covering huge territory just to keep an eye on the little ones in the group. And there's something here for everyone to enjoy. A 600-foot lazy river is an ideal way to cool off while letting the gently moving current carry you all the way around the river.
Over at the 100,000 gallon wave pool, relax and enjoy the gentle ebb and flow sensation of the ocean -- without the dangerous undertow found at the beach.
Gently spraying water fountains spring into action every so often and offer both a pleasant element of surprise and an added means for cooling down on a hot summer day in North Carolina.
When you need a change of scenery and want to stir things up a bit, head over to the "pond."
This man-made pond is actually a pool with waters that are a little deeper in color. But you don't swim here. What happens in the pond is a far cry from swimming...
You've liked tried bumper cars, but have you chugged around in motorized bumper boats?
Wow... is this a fun activity! The concept mirrors that of bumper cars found at amusement parks and made popular in the 1970s. Pick your partner, choose your vessel, and let the (bumping) games begin!
The small children in your party will endlessly enjoy the splash pad attractions.
The giant octopus water slide is the perfect size for toddlers. It's in good company on the 5,000-square-foot wading pool splash deck filled with bucket dumps, spray umbrellas, and more. What fun!
Families with small children in particular love this old-fashioned water park for the simplicity of the layout.
While other water parks in the state are also fun, some of them are just so big (not to mention expensive) that bringing toddlers and tweens to one is exhausting. Not at White Lake Water Park.
If you call ahead, you can reserve a family Tiki Hut for your visit, which is a great option for families or groups.
For food throughout the day, you have two options: you can purchase food from the water park; or, if you pay a $10 fee, then you can bring a cooler and even use the grill at your tiki hut to cook out. This advantage alone is a deal maker as far as we're concerned!
And don't pass up the chance to take a thrilling ride down the twisted water slide (seen on the right side of this image.) You'll climb 50 feet to the top and then twirl down a 200-foot slide. Sounds fun!
Why visit a huge, crowded water park when you can spend the day at this old-school water park in North Carolina?
