On a hot sticky day in North Carolina, it sure would be nice to take a moment to cool off by jumping in a snowbank. Okay, that may be a bit too drastic while many of us are sporting shorts, tanks, and flip-flops on a daily basis; but there is someplace super fun that you may want to visit. On those hot humid summer days, (or, really any time of year) if you start to look forward to the winter holidays, we have something perfect for you. There's one place in North Carolina where sleigh bells ring, snow falls, and Santa hangs out year-round. Let's check out Santa's Land in North Carolina.
The whole 'Christmas in July' theme is very alive at Santa's Land.
It might be blazing hot, but bells will be ringin' and there's plenty of decked-out mistletoe at this beloved destination in Cherokee.
Situated at the southern entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Santa's Land has operated since the 1970s. The seasonal theme park offers something different and gives people a taste of Christmas year-round.
There's a zoo, rides, Christmas-themed displays, and of course a meet 'n greet with Santa.
This whimsical park might feel a bit back in time but the retro charm just adds to the experience.
Kids and adults are treated to a variety of different activities like a Magic Show, meeting Santa at his summer getaway in the mountains, riding the iconic Rudolph coaster, and stopping by the petting zoo.
Yes, Santa has animals, too.
The zoo is home to all sorts of animals like a bear, parrot, kangaroo, monkeys, and even a porcupine. Kids are allowed to feed the deer.
We can't forget the main attraction, though...
Can you really blame Santa for finding a summer getaway in the North Carolina mountains? Of course, he's still taking gift requests and must start planning early for the season. Kids can meet Santa in a more intimate setting that is different than your usual Christmas rush. As an encouragement to keep that good behavior lasting till Christmas, kids receive a "good conduct diploma" from Santa.
Santa's Land is truly a unique and iconic North Carolina getaway. While not on par with your larger theme parks, there's something simple and nostalgic about visiting here. Children love the experience of seeing Santa in the off-season and adults can entertain their imaginations while seeing all there is to offer.
