One of our favorite year-round activities is a visit to indoor water parks in North Carolina. Not only are these indoor oases a great way to beat the heat in the summer, but they also serve as great opportunities to play in the water even when it's freezing or rainy outside: there aren't many places you can do that! One of our favorite's is Ray's Splash Planet, one of the largest indoor water parks in the Carolinas. This spot in Charlotte features 29,000 square feet of fun. It's got all kinds of attractions that make for a superb day of fun in the water, no matter what season it is.
Ray's Splash Planet is operated by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department, so you might assume that it's pretty small. However, this place is huge, holding 117,000 gallons of water.
The water is heated to a constant 87 degrees throughout the year and there are several high-tech sanitizing systems to ensure that it's as clean as possible.
You'll find several great attractions here, one of the most popular of which is the Blue Comet, a three-story, double-figure-eight slide that's an absolute blast.
The Blue Comet is only for riders 48 inches and taller. But don't worry, there are designated play areas for the little ones, too.
Like all great water parks in North Carolina, you'll find a lazy river perfect for a relaxing float.
Just looking to enjoy the water and maybe get some strokes in? The Sea of Tranquility is for you.
This two-lane lap pool is perfect for getting some practice on your strokes.
This area is also available for water volleyball and water basketball.
This indoor water park in North Carolina is a great year-round attraction that will let you feel like it's summer all year long!
