Where else but near the coast and seemingly out in the middle of nowhere would you expect to find an Old West theme park and steakhouse? If you've never been to Deadwood, located 20 miles northeast of Greenville, NC, then you're in for a treat the entire family will love! This secret little gem is bustling with activity and you'll want to go, so take a look at some of the features below, and then work it into your plans in the coming year.
First things first: before you show up at the wrong time, Deadwood is only open four days a week. The hours are listed below.
Not only does Deadwood feature an Old West town complete with a restaurant (Smokehouse Grill) and a Saloon (the No. 10 Saloon) with live entertainment, and an ice cream shop, but once inside the gates of the theme park you'll be captivated by the rustic old park itself.
It seems around every turn in this small park there are carefully placed Old West reminders.
And there must have been a shootout as some point, because the old coffin is still in the street awaiting a horse to hitch up and carry it away.
For kids and kids at heart, there's a roller coaster that's said to be a real scream. Seriously, it's not timed to crawl along at a snail's pace. Prefer something less thrilling? Hop on the Old West train and take a ride around the park. (But don't be surprised if it gets held up... )
Or you could just walk around the park. Eventually you'll encounter the largest (and bluest) koi pond you'll ever see.
And a teepee village, because... what Old West town would be complete without one?
If you just can't wait until after dinner, pop into the Copper Star Cafe ice cream shop (pictured below) and have an early dessert.
Some people prefer to make an early reservation at the themepark's restaurant, the Smokehouse Grill, for before the fun in the theme park.
The menu features everything from mouthwatering ribeye steaks to chicken fingers for the kiddos.
Over in the No. 10 Saloon, you're likely to find live music that'll keep your toes tapping to the sounds of country tunes while you sample the variety of beers available.
Ever hear of this fun little theme park and steakhouse?
