During the holidays each year, it's not uncommon to see gentle reminders about "the reason for the season." We may fill our cups each day with a heaping dose of holiday cheer but there are few places in which to celebrate that combine the best of holiday festivities and "the reason for the season" in quite the way that this live nativity scene and its adorable petting zoo featuring live nativity animals does.
But that's only part of the allure. The live nativity and live nativity animals are set up right outside the entrance to the Billy Graham Library. And if you thought a visit to the Library was inspirational the last time you went... just wait 'til you see it at Christmas!
The Billy Graham Library was established in 2007 as a Crusade to spread the word of The Gospel and this live nativity scene and the irresistible animals set up on the grounds of the Library do just that.
We just can't think of another Christmas celebration quite like it in all of North Carolina.
From petting the cute animals, to seeing a real live representation of the birth of Jesus, and exploring the grounds of the library on foot, this event is sure to bring some special and spirtually-charged moments into your holiday season.
In addition to the Christmas-only events, the other on-going attractions at the library are open for extended hours during the holidays. Explore the beautifully lit grounds, and enjoy the sounds of the season through live musical performances. If you're interested in beating the crowds, then come earlier in the month of December, or earlier in the week. (Fridays and Saturdays can bring some long lines.)
Pop inside to check out the joyous Christmas decor...
... and be sure to make a stop in the Bookstore! You can also stay for a good old-fashioned Christmas dinner from Thursday through Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00. The cost is $22.95 per adult, $9.95 for children (4-10), and free for children 3 and under.
And then after, take a horse drawn carriage ride around the estate. What could be more romantic and inspirational?
From a live nativity and a petting zoo with nativity animals to carriage rides, and more, Christmas at the Library is a must this (and every) season!
