Fourth of July is right around the corner, and that means one thing: fireworks! Whatever your location in the state, there's bound to be an amazing show not too far away. But some shows in North Carolina are TRULY spectacular. I think it's safe to say that the 2016 displays will blow last year's out of the water. With amazing fireworks, activities, and memories that will last forever, these are the best firework displays in North Carolina.
1. Charlotte Knights Stadium
The Charlotte skyline has never looked more beautiful than during a fireworks display at the Knights game. While a regular occurrence, the 4th of July fireworks here are TRULY spectacular. Get here early, grab a hot dog and a seat and be prepared to be blown away by the best fireworks in the QC.
2. City of Wilmington 4th of July Celebration
Wilmington is already a beautiful place, but fireworks over the Cape Fear River? Count me in! Downtown Wilmington becomes lively and fun with food vendors, and entertainment from 5-9. Fireworks start at 9:05PM and admission is free.
3. Kenan Memorial Stadium, Chapel Hill
Chapel Hill was ranked by Travel + Leisure as one of America's 'Ten Best Towns for a Fourth of July Celebration.' They were certainly right, as this is one of the best Fourth of July events in the whole state. There's entertainment, music, games, face painting, food and even a watermelon-eating contest. Admission is just $1 and the fun begins at 7PM.
4. Sky Scream Fireworks, Wet n' Wild Emerald Pointe, Greensboro
With this fireworks show you don't just get one day of fireworks...you get three! This award-winning show features some of the most impressive fireworks in the Carolinas. Rides are open till 9PM with the fireworks starting at 9:15. Splish and splash all day...then marvel at the fireworks beauty by night!
5. Fireworks at Tweetsie Railroad
This is one of the most popular firework displays in Western, NC...and it's no surprise everyone wants to hop on board (no pun intended). You can spend the day enjoying everything Tweetsie has to offer and marvel in the impressive fireworks at 9PM. There's an optional dinner and buffet. Parking is $10 while admission is $20 for adults and $15 for kids ages 3-12.
While these are the MAJOR fireworks show for each Carolina region...there are plenty more to enjoy.
Fort Bragg offers a parachute free-fall, live music, a flag ceremony and children's activities during their celebration.
If you like your fireworks with a side of culture, the Charlotte Symphony will be doing a Symphony in the Park (June 25th) with a fireworks show to follow.
For fireworks and baseball minus the drive to Charlotte, check out the Winston-Salem Dash, Durham Bulls, or Asheville Tourists.
Many people will be taking a beach vacation over the 4th...don't fret, wherever your location there is an awesome display - like the 24th annual Independence Day Celebration at Historic Corolla Park, the Camp Lejune 4th of July Celebration featuring Kellie Pickler, USS or Fireworks by the Sea at Carolina Beach.
And if cool mountain air is your Independence Day destination of choice, there's the 4th of July Celebration at Fontana Village, 30th annual Christmas in July Festival in West Jefferson, and the Symphony by the Lake at Chetola.
WOW. That's a lot of fireworks, and I'm certainly excited to celebrate now! What is your favorite fireworks display in North Carolina?
