The Transylvania Heritage Museum in Brevard, North Carolina, hosts an annual display of vintage aluminum Christmas trees decorated with both modern and vintage ornaments.

Just wow. What a step back in time at this fascinating museum in North Carolina that displays an annual collection of vintage Christmas tree ornaments - and puts them on vintage aluminum Christmas trees each holiday season! If you haven't visited the aluminum Christmas tree collection at the Transylvania Heritage Museum in Brevard, then this is the year to take a wonderful step back in time...

Take a time capsule all the way back to the late '50s, '60s, the early '70s to a time when foil artificial trees adorned living rooms all over the Tar Heel State.

Several years ago, the Transylvania Heritage Museum began displaying the aluminum trees belonging to a local resident who'd collected too many over the years to display in his own home. The annual "Aluminum Christmas Tree Musuem" is a must-see for anyone who grew up in the '60s or '70s.

The trees are on display through December 22, 2018 in several rooms in the museum. It's an annual event the locals have come to cherish.

The Aluminum Tree Museum is located within the Transylvania Heritage Museum at 189 W Main St., Brevard, NC 28712. It's open Wednesday through Saturday. The hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The trees are on display through December 22, 2018. Admission is free. Developed from 1912-1917 by Richard Joshua Reynolds and his wife, Katharine Smith Reynolds, the Reynolda Historic District was part of their sprawling country estate.

The North Carolina FossilFest 2024 in Aurora offers a unique celebration with fossil digging, live music, a parade, and various family-friendly activities.

A fossil festival in North Carolina offers some unique fun in Aurora. Make plans to attend the North Carolina - FossilFest 2024 on May 25-27. This extraordinary event supports the important, nonprofit Aurora Fossil Museum which is free to the public, showcasing the rich fossil record of the state. The free festival also had some ticketed events to support the museum and the festival. Dig for fossils, learn from the science and history displays, dance to the live music, enjoy the kid's zone, eat some of the best food, and yes - cheer on the parade! Let's take a look at what's to come at this delightful celebration.

The Jurassic Classic Bike Ride kicks off the Fossilfest at 9 a.m. on Saturday with cyclists riding through the lovely countryside.

This annual fundraising 38-mile ride is hosted by Flythe's Bike Shop of New Bern. You can support your favorite participant, or sign up to ride on the Jurassic Classic Bike Event website.

Then watch the exciting parade on Main Street beginning at 11 a.m.
