North Carolina has plenty of naturally beautiful places to cool off or take a dip, but sometimes you just can't beat the thrill of a waterslide or even just a day at the waterpark. There are plenty to be found in the state that are sure to make your summer unforgettable, like these eight.
1. Carolina Harbor, Carowinds
Formerly known as Boomerang Bay, Carolina Harbor JUST opened as the largest waterpark in the Carolinas. Between daring slides and calm rivers, you'll do plenty of cooling off here.
2. Wet n' Wild Emerald Pointe, Greensboro
Centrally located, Emerald Pointe has long been a destination for Piedmonters looking to cool off and get some adventure at the same time. You can go the thrill route and plunge down a waterslide, or just relax with the kiddos in fun splash pools.
3. Great Wolf Lodge, Concord
It doesn't always have to be summer to dip your toes in some cool water - not at Great Wolf Lodge. Their indoor waterpark is strikingly impressive and perfect for a rainy day activity.
4. Lions Water Adventure, Kinston
Lions water adventure is one of the safest and most fun for those in the area. If you're looking for something different yet still relaxing, go here.
5. Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park, Wilmington
Sure, you might be right next to the beach, but Jungle Rapids still offers a lot of fun water activities. If you're looking to stay dry, check out the go-kart or laser tag!
6. White Lake Waterpark, White Lake
White Lake is a gorgeous destination, but if the kids are craving something MORE fun, take them here. There's plenty of slides to choose from and you can catch some sun.
7. Water Boggan, Emerald Isle
If there's a day where you're looking for something different (besides sand and saltwater) take a break from the beach and hangout at Water Boggan. Plenty of people who have visited love it and love taking small kids here for a fun day.
8. Lake Lure Waterpark, Lake Lure
Lake Lure is already located in a gorgeous setting, but sometimes the kiddos just want more. Lake Lure waterpark is small but adds fun to your vacation.
9. Fantasy Lake Waterpark, Hope Mills
With everything in one central location (the water) you can mosey around (or swim) while enjoying a little bit of fun. You have a whole 10-acre manmade lake and even a small beach for sunbathing.
10. U.S National Whitewater Center, Charlotte
Sure, the Whitewater Center isn't your average waterpark, it's more of a whitewater rafting park, but how could I NOT include something so truly awesome right in our home state? From newbie to advanced, there's something for everyone.
These are some amazing places to go splash around all summer long! Have you visited any or have opinions on them?
