As you make your way around the Empire State, all along the roadside you can find attractions that will make you stop and look twice. Sometimes our favorite roadside attractions are simply designed to be a great photo opportunity, while others have a bit more history to them that you can dive into. If you're ready to enjoy the best of both worlds, then see what it's like to stand in three different states at once at New York's Tri-States Monument!
Down in Orange County where you're surrounded by all sorts of unique pieces of the past, Port Jervis is home to one roadside landmark that you'll surely want to cross off of your bucket list.
Not far off of the beaten path, New York's Tri-States Monument isn't hard to find but unless you know what you're looking for, you usually won't stumble upon it too easily.
Taking you down under the bridge to an area known to locals as Carpenter's Point, it's here that you'll find that confluence of the Neversink and Delaware Rivers - but also something else.
Just over 2-feet-long by the banks of the confluence, the Tri-States Monument marks where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania all meet.
The small granite monument is a mere foot above the bedrock, easily blending into the landscapes and making it a destination that's often overlooked by those who don't know of it.
Engraved to let you know exactly which states are where, the monument makes for the perfect photo opportunity.
Pretty neat, huh?
A roadside adventure that just about any New Yorker can take, it's here in Port Jervis that you'll be able to say you've stood in three states at once.
Right by the Laurel Grove Cemetery on East Main Street, make the trip down to Port Jervis to cross this monumental adventure off of your bucket list once and for all!
