Buffalo features a ton of amazing museums - so many, in fact, that if often distracts us from venturing beyond city limits. Well, if you're ready to explore someplace new and take the day to dive into Western New York's rich history, then you're going to want to start planning your next day trip. Taking you only an hour outside of the Queen City, find out what's so fascinating about this one country village museum:
Right in the delightful little town of Mumford, the Genesee Country Village & Museum is one of the most fascinating pieces of living history.
Known as New York's largest living history museum and the third largest in the entire country, the Genesee Country Village has collected and restored nearly 70 different historic buildings from all around Western New York.
Creating its own unique and fascinating village, you'll find everything here from old schoolhouses, churches, a doctor's office, and even an old confectionary.
During the holiday season, the historic village turns into something extra magical, offering Yuletide in the Country Tours at the end of November and during December.
The guided walking tours last 90 minutes and bring you through the village and into the different buildings that make up this living museum.
Visitors will get the chance to see how New Yorkers once celebrated the holidays and check out the town decorated in holiday cheer.
And of course, there's nothing like seeing the village's tree lit up at the Genesee Country Village & Museum.
Celebrating 25 years of Yuletide in the Country tours, come and visit the Genesee Country Village & Museum to discover why you'll wish you had known about this amazing place sooner.
