Have you heard of the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze? Once the fall season officially rolls around here in New York, it isn’t just our beautiful scenery that starts to transform! Between the moments that you’re dedicating to leaf peeping, where you can see firsthand just how much is changing around the Empire State, you can also visit historic 17th-century homes that now look like something out of a magical Halloween film. If you’re ready to experience our state’s most enchanting fall event, then grab your tickets to this year’s Halloween event in New York before it’s too late.
Completely transforming Croton-on-Hudson's Van Cortlandt Manor, The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze is the very definition of a bucket list item.
This event has been happening here in the Hudson Valley since 2005, growing each year and offering all sorts of jaw-dropping pumpkin displays that you won't find anywhere else.
For most visitors, it takes about 90 minutes to completely walk through the entire illuminated pumpkin glow in New York that winds in and around Van Cortlandt Manor.
But you aren't held to complete the walk in a certain time. I like to take my time and see the displays from all angles!
Stopping you in your tracks, you'll walk underneath color-changing pumpkin planetariums...
...and pass by actual functioning carousels that are made out of pumpkins and rotating around for all to see.
Whether you're swooning over the pumpkin carousel or marveling over the 25-foot-tall Statue of Liberty made out of pumpkins, you'll find your mind being blown around every turn that you take.
In total, you see over 7,000 illuminated pumpkins as you walk along the trail. This is the largest pumpkin-themed event in New York.
Be sure to stop at every creation.
One of my newest favorites was this under the sea display.
Does this pumpkin-lit trail ever end?
Not only do I love the attention to detail, but also how many of the displays pay homage to the area. Here is the local fire department putting out a fire.
And the Headless Horseman himself!
The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze begins at the end of September and goes into November.
