Here in New York, we like to think that there aren't too many of our holiday traditions that are that out of the norm. When it comes to celebrating this festive season though, we do have one tradition that breaks the stereotype we're given by outsiders as being a bunch of city slickers who only live in the Big Apple. Embracing the rural side of the Empire State that we love so much, check out this exciting event that's happening soon in our state.
Happening right in the town of Greenwich in, the Greenwich Lighted Tractor Parade is a whimsical part of New York's holiday season.
More than 70 decorated tractors parade their way through the streets of Greenwich, an unusual sight that most towns aren't used to seeing.
To participate in the lighted parade, each tractor must be decorated with at least 1,000-holiday lights.
And if the tractor also has a float or trailer in tow, they're required to have at least 2,000-holiday lights decorated on their tractors.
Locals love to put together fun holiday-themed floats, with everyone loving to discuss which float was their favorite of the year.
Starting at the local high school, the exciting parade makes its way along Woodlawn Avenue, Church Street, Main Street, Washington Street, Bleeker Street, and Hill Street.
You never know what you're going to see decorated all over these tractors and floats!
Happening this Saturday on November 17th at 6 p.m., head to Washington County to experience one of New York's quirkiest holiday traditions.
This year mark's 6th annual Greenwich Lighted Tractor Parade in town. Those who come to enjoy the holiday parade will also find local vendors all along the streets in town, with everything from local bakeries, food trucks, fish fry, and so much more! To find out more about the parade, click here.
