This time of year there’s practically something going on in the city every weekend. As long as the weather holds out, you’re not going to want to miss these 5 awesome festivals happening in and around New Orleans this summer!
1. Creole Tomato Festival
The two day festival kicks off for its 32nd year on June 9th over in the French Market District. This free festival features food, drinks, kids activities, a tomato eating contest, and a bloody mary market. Yes, that’s correct, a bloody mary market! 1008 N. Peters St., New Orleans, LA 70116 10am-7pm both days.
2. Pho Festival
Who doesn’t love a delicious bowl of pho? This mouthwatering festival features several booths serving some of the best Vietnamese food you’ve ever tasted. There will be live music, drinks, and more! The festival takes place June 9th and 10th at 6851 St. Le The Thanh St., Marrero, LA 70072.
3. Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Music Festival
This fun festival returns for its 12th year June 23-24 at Louis Armstrong Park. Admission is free and features Cajun and zydeco music exclusively. Come pass a good time while you eat some great food, shops at the arts market, and dance the night away. 701 N. Rampart St., New Orleans, LA 70116.
4. Swamp Magic Fest
Get in touch with your supernatural side at this unique festival. The Swamp Magic Fest is a supernatural, psychic and voodoo festival that’s free to enter and takes place June 22-24. The three-day festival is filled with magic and mystery and we guarantee you’ve never been to a festival like this before. 826 N. Rampart St., New Orleans, LA 70116.
5. Running of the Bulls
One of the city’s favorite festivals takes over the city July 13-15. This spectacle can only be seen to be believed, as hundreds of runners roam the streets while hundreds of rollerbulls (roller derby skaters from around the country) chase after them with plastic bats. This is one festival you don’t want to miss. The actual running of the bulls takes place Saturday the 14th but there are festivities throughout the entire weekend.
