There are so many interesting places to explore in New Orleans--it can be easy to overlook some truly special places. Luckily, we're here to help. One of my favorite hidden gems in all of New Orleans is tucked away in the French Quarter. It's the New Orleans pharmacy museum, and visiting it is an exciting and captivating way to spend an afternoon!
This museum is tucked away in the French Quarter at 514 Chartres St.
It's found in the building that was originally occupied by the first licensed pharmacist in the United States.
Louis J. Dufilho Jr., lived and worked in New Orleans, receiving his pharmacist license in 1816.
The museum puts a huge variety of historic remedies on display for patrons to explore.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am - 4pm.
When you visit, you can learn all about old remedies like leeching.
There are even unique medicines like voodoo potions and other unusual remedies.
The space is also available for weddings. The courtyard making a gorgeous venue for your special day.
