If you're visiting one of New Mexico's first cities, Española, you might pass by a little drive-in with a blaring suggestion to stop and grab a bite. Once you pull in and order from this '50s style drive up, you'll be hooked for life. Though not much has changed at this old school restaurant in decades, neither has the food that's made lifelong customers out of many New Mexicans. This roadside stop might not look like much, but the food will have you coming back for more, any time you're in town.
Welcome to Stop And Eat Drive In! This unassuming roadside food stop in Española hasn't changed much since its beginning in 1967, but that's okay, we love it just as it is.
On a busy intersection in Española, you'll find this unpretentious drive in, although it's not the type of drive in where servers come up to your car. You merely park and walk to the walk up order window. Deciding what to eat is the toughest part.
This little shack is most known for its jumbo burgers—best with green chile—but there are so many other New Mexican favorites waiting to be had.
The rolled tacos are a fan favorite, and are hand rolled and fried. Stop And Eat only uses the freshest of ingredients, which is what makes it one of the best spots in Northern New Mexico.
The fried burritos are always another great choice, as well as their standard burritos. Other favorites are the frito pie (which oddly, has no beans or cheese,) tacos with fresh made shells, chicken dinners, posole, and so much more!
There is so much charm packed into this little drive in, and so many options to choose from, that you'll just have to stop and eat a few times.
Stop And Eat Drive In might not look like anything special on the outside, but inside is a recipe for success that was made in the '60s, and has had us all loving it ever since.
Stop And Eat Drive in is located at 102 S. Riverside Dr., Española, NM.
