There’s nothing quite like the feeling of brisk mountain air on a sunny day, especially while out hiking or camping. But have you ever had the opportunity to feel it while soaring from a bird’s perspective at 65 miles per hour?
If you hitch a ride on the Apache Wind Rider ZipTour at the Ski Apache Resort in southern New Mexico, you most certainly can!
Located in the Sierra Blanca Mountains, this zip line makes for one thrilling, heart-racing experience.
Here are a couple fun facts: the zip line just happens to be among the highest and longest rides in the country! The Wind Rider ZipTour sits at an elevation of 11,489 feet and spans 8,890 feet.
The experience typically lasts 1.5 hours and you get the option of riding next to a buddy on parallel lines.
Keep in mind that your buddy needs to be at least 10 years old and a minimum 50 pounds.
During the ride, you’ll spy some incredible views above the mountains that only the birds typically see.
Who wouldn't want the chance to see this view?
Another thing that makes this zip line adventure an incredible experience? You can experience it summer…
...or winter!
Not sure if you’re quite ready to experience the zip line for yourself? Don’t worry! Check out this Youtube video from the University of New Mexico. It will introduce you to the experience and show off some of the incredible sights you may see along the way.
