Tourism is New Jersey's second-largest industry and it's really no surprise with our spectacular shore towns. People come from all over to visit Cape May, Asbury Park, Wildwood, and Ocean City (among others). However, it's not only our shore towns that are bringing in tourists. One small town on the western side of our state has been making major waves.
Lambertville is a charming little town on the Delaware River, home to just around 3,800 residents.
The town was founded in 1705 and you can see that reflected in its layout and architecture. Its streets are lined with well-preserved federal townhouses and Victorian homes.
It is best known as a world-class antiquing destination, home to over a dozen incredible antique shops. There are two that you can't miss...
The People's Store Antique Center spans four floors in a beautiful 1839 building in the heart of downtown. There are dozens of dealers offering everything imaginable. I was absolutely enamored with the selection. Address: 28 N. Union Street, Lambertville, NJ, 08530
The second shop you should absolutely visit is the Golden Nugget.
It's an indoor/outdoor flea market and antique center that offers a sizable selection of both vintage and handmade goods. This photo doesn't do the place justice... you have to see it for yourself. Address: 1850 River Road, Lambertville, NJ, 08530
But this town has more than antiques to offer. You'll love the art galleries!
One of our top picks has to be Jim's of Lambertville. The gorgeous gallery offers a whopping 7,000 square feet of art, specializing in Pennsylvania Impressionist and Modernist paintings as well as 18th - 20th century American and European art. Address: 6 E Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ, 08530
Then, there's the dining. Lambertville Station is a dream on the Delaware!
It's a restaurant, inn, and popular wedding venue. Address: 11 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ, 08530. Other top eateries include D'floret (farm to table fare), El Tule (Mexican/Peruvian), and Caffe Galleria (global eats, espresso, and gelato).
Rounding out the indoor attractions, you'll find the magical Music Mountain Theater and the James Wilson Marshall House.
Music Mountain Theater offers top-notch (and budget-friendly) musicals and live theatrical performances. Address: 1483 Route 179, Lambertville, NJ, 08530. The James Wilson Marshall House is a historic home that offers tours on select dates AND guided walking historic tours of the town. It's a must-see if you enjoy history. Address: 60 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ, 08530
You can also enjoy the beauty of nature.
There are several parks including the popular D&R Canal Park featuring a wheelchair-accessible trail for hiking and biking. It's absolutely beautiful.
